Montgomery Zoo

We love the Montgomery Zoo and are proud card carrying members. =) It is so much nicer than the one in B'Ham and cheaper and less crowded. We went this Sunday afternoon for some family fun....
Madeline always wants her picture made here at the entrance.

Matthew was absolutely thrilled to be down out of his stroller and walking around. He loved picking up leaves and giving them to us.

leaf in hand......

leaf for Daddy....

another leaf for Daddy....

finally a leaf for Mommy!

I thought this would be cute to keep doing to show the kids heights each time.

feeding the Koi fish. Madeline loves to feed the fish- just like Granddaddy!

Madeline walks on these every time. They are all over the zoo.

The misters were great on a hot day!

This I couldn't understand..... a penguin in the elephant pen..... There is no penguin exhibit at MGM zoo that I know of. How did he get here????

First Day Of First Grade!

Where has the time gone?? 6yrs old and starting first grade. It's going by too fast! She had a great first day and likes to pack her own lunches (I go behind and edit her choices). The rest of this week I'm still allowed to walk her to class but starting Monday she has to get out of the car in the drop off line and go in alone..... we'll see how this goes.

Yea!

Got an offer on the house this weekend. A horrible offer, but we countered back. Haven't heard back from that. At least things are picking up. We've had 16 showings over like 6 weeks. We start going to look for new houses for us Wed! =)

Pump It Up Party

Madeline went to a birthday party at Pump It Up today. About 95% of the kids in her class have their parties here and now she wants to have her 7yr party here next year. This is the inflatable equivalent to Chucky Cheese- kids love it, parents, not so much.

She tooled around in this kiddie car a lot only because she didn't want anyone else to get it!

They have 2 rooms of inflatables and 2 party rooms for the food/cake, etc. So they can have 4 parties going on at the same time. Each group gets 1hr in each inflatable room, then swap. There are giant slides, bouncers, obstacle courses, etc. And yes, parents/grown ups can do it all too. I've spent my fair share trying to climb out of an obstacle course and going down the slides. Can't wait to get Aunt Nancy on that big slide next year! =)

Highly Suspicious Behavior

Not sure what the reason for all this 'help' is yet. Madeline said she wanted to help clean all the glass doors/mirrors for the house showing we have tomorrow. I was glad to let her do it! haha

Matthew is fascinated by anything that Sissy does.

First Of Many

Matthew cracked his head on a bathroom stool Thursday night.... the pictures don't do it justice, it knotted up blue/purple with the scratch on top. His pediatrician said it was the first of many and is just part of having a boy. He was trying to run and his head got ahead of his feet. Not hard to do with a Bryan Nugget on top which measured in the 90th percentile at his last checkup!
And here is the culprit.....
This wooden stool was made by my grandfather, Pop. Nancy and I used it when we were little girls and I brought it home from Mother's for Madeline to use in her bathroom. Matthew caught it right on the corner.

Flower Power

Lollie bought Madeline a craft kit for making flowers out of tissue paper and pipe cleaners. They are so cute! The bag is even made to be a 'vase' for the finished products!

Dinner With Lollie

Jeff grilled out dinner during Lollie's visit. Chicken and pork chops!

Madeline was a very tired little girl and fell asleep hanging over the side of her bed! Definite photo op!

The Kitties

These are Madeline's Kitties. She got them one at a time when she was 2. They are originally named Black Kitty, Gold Kitty, Brown Kitty, Boo, Orange Kitty and White Kitty. (The one on the floor is plain old Kitty). White Kitty has been everywhere from MaMaw's & Crocodile Lake to Disney World, Colorado & Alaska. He is very well travelled. I plan to keep these in a shadow box when Madeline is older. I can't believe we haven't lost a single one yet! =)

Fun In The Sun

I love this one of Matthew!

I couldn't get Matthew to play on anything, he just wanted to run along the sidewalks all around the park. If there's a trail, he wants to follow it.

Madeline has always loved slides!

Both of my babies like to be outside. I think Madeline would go to the park, any park, every day if she were given the opportunity. Matthew loves to be outside, but I think he mostly wants to just do anything Sissy does. =)

Mama Eyes

Tonight Madeline and I were playing school....... well not school as in 'classroom' school, she wanted to play 'office worker' school. Like the secretaries etc. So this led to a discussion on being sent to the office for time out (which we know alllllllll about) and I find out that there is more than one office they are sent to. Madeline says there is Mrs. Pickett's office (the principal), Mrs. Green's office (the front desk) and Mrs. Reed's office (not sure who this is). I had to bite my tongue as she explained "Oh I've tried them all out and Mrs. Reed's is the best for sure. All the kids hope they get sent to Mrs. Reed for time out because she keeps toys in her office that we get to play with in the chair. I got to color last time I was there!". She said some of the others look at you with 'Mama Eyes' when you sit in there. I asked what that was and she explained that those are the eyes that look at you like 'I know what you're up to' and 'most Mommies have them in the back of their head and always catch us doing stuff'. Too funny. She said Mrs. McDaniel has Mama Eyes (she was the teacher for the Summer Fun program and is going to be Madeline's first grade teacher). She can show what Mama Eyes look like too but I didn't have my camera on me. =)

Back to the 1980's

Tonight we went to a 1980's theme party at one of our neighbor's. Poor Jeff had to tight roll his jeans and I had to wrangle my hair into a side ponytail which created a doozy of a headache after an hour. We had jelly bracelets, scrunchie's and tons of hair spray. Matthew even got a mowhawk and a turned up collar. =)
