Last night Madeline and I were studying for her spelling & vocabulary test and I told her I was going to try to trick her with a harder word and she said "OH! You're trying to kick it up a notch aren't you!"
I laughed til I cried.

1950's Day

Friday was the 50th Day of School for Madeline so her class all dressed like the 1950's for their class party. And yes, that's an Elvis Presley button on her shirt. =)

Lesson Learned

Matthew is the only experience I have had with a boy baby and luckily for us he has never been much of a 'sprayer' at all during diaper changes. He's 15 months old and I can count on 1 hand the number of times he has sprayed. So...... right now he has a bad diaper rash because he is teething- I thought it would be safe to let him 'air out' and run around with no diaper for a while. WRONG. Imagine how startled I was sitting with him in his bedroom floor - across from him and all of a sudden I am wet all over, apparently from no where as I couldn't figure out where the 'water' had come from!!! He had squatted to open a book, proceeded to pee onto the book which deflected the stream up over the top of it and onto me- all over me. One of those moments where you just sit there dumbfounded and startled and don't know what to clean up first. =)

'humdimidifier'

We are a family of humidifiers. When Madeline was little she called them humdimidifiers and it stuck. This is a picture of the one I use (Jeff too). This is the same one my mother used for me every single time I was sick. She would put it on a stool beside my bed at night. We had two, the other was avacado green but I'm not sure what happened to it. They came from Daddy's drug store and the yellow price sticker says 'Lexington $15.95'. It is obviously from the 1970's but works like a charm. The motor still makes the same sound I remember from childhood and it is very comforting even today when I am sick. I am always worried that the motor will burn out eventually and can't be replaced. Since I still have the original box and leaflet inside I went online to try to find another but there are none.

These are Madeline's and Matthew's humdimidifiers. They work but are silent in sound so I prefer mine and the sweet sound of its motor. =) It's not uncommon during the winter months that all of us have one running in our bedrooms.

I am loving my new leather club chair. I shopped around to a lot of stores before I could find one that was soft and comfy- and not huge! (it doesn't really have spots on it, that's the camera flash)

Psalms 34 8-13

Madeline has memory work each month at school for Bible. For October it is Psalms 34 verses 8-13: look it up some time when you get a chance to truly appreciate this. We started Monday night reading it and reading it, and again Tues and Wed. Thursday she tells me that her teacher asked if anyone was brave enough to try it for bonus points (it's not due until the 31st) and Madeline raised her hand! She recited it start to finish and got a 105 grade. I could not believe it! I don't even remotely have the thing memorized yet! Way to go Madeline!! Much smarter than your mommy was in 1st grade!! =)

Science Club

Madeline is so excited about being in Science Club. Her meetings are on Mondays after school. She came home so excited to tell me that the teacher brought in Owl throw up for them to sift through with stick things and try to pick out the bones and see what the owl had eaten....... ugh.

Matthew loves, loves to arrange the contents of this basket in our bathroom. He takes the lotions out and puts them back in over and over.

This was Jeff's year to ride the train, I rode it last year. =)

Madeline thought this year was the year she would finally be brave enough to make it down the big tiger slide..... ummm not so much. I had to climb up after her. Jeff had to last year.

Down In The Pumpkin Patch

Madeline is fascinated with cuckle burrs, especially after I told her last year how Aunt Nancy and I always had them all over our pants legs when we would come in from playing outside! Here she is 'collecting' them. I had to make sure we did not take any home in the car!

What would a trip be anywhere with Matthew where he didn't face plant into the ground at least once. He got dirt all over his face and then started to lick it off.

Madeline found this great pumpkin that was warped into the look of a witch's face and it was green too! She painted the face in and it looks so cute.
