2 min art

Madeline churns these out at a rate of one a min. Usually a beach scene with ocean coming up to the shore & palm trees or a house on a hill with mountains in the background. These are her staples of free draw. Recently she has begun to add a tire swing to the palm trees! =)
She'll be taking art lessons in after school care this year and is very excited about that.

Tooth Fairy get ready!

Madeline's two front teeth are very loose, and she is very excited to have the tooth fairy leave her two dollars at the same time! Her great-grandpa Pop says if she can keep her tongue out of the hole a gold tooth will grow in and this time she is determined to have a gold tooth come in the front! The last two times she tried very hard to keep her tongue out of the holes but couldn't do it. =)

High Schooler

Tonight Madeline decided that she wants everyone at school tomorrow to think she's a 'high schooler'. She goes to a private school that is K-12 so she sees the high school students changing classes, etc. She has planned to wear a head band 'like a high schooler', take a notebook 'like a high schooler' and wear 'high schooler socks' (a.k.a the argyle knee socks she has- don't worry, I will get a picture of this ensemble tomorrow morning before school). Here is part of our conversation as she was going to sleep:
M: Do high schoolers still get to play in centers?
Me: No, I'm sure they wish they could but they don't.
M: I saw inside one of the high shchool classes when we walked by them in the gym- they had the door open!!!- and I saw BEAN BAGS in there!
Me: Wow!
M: AND they had chairs........ WITH ARMS!
Me: That is so cool.
M: And they had checkers set up in there to play!
Me: Hmmm, we didn't have that when I was in high school. That may be an after school room since it's in the gym.
M: Do high schoolers still get nap time?
Me: No they don't....
M: Well what do I do with my rabbit mat when I'm in high school?????
Me: You can just leave it in the car.
M: Tomorrow night I'm going to go to bed all by myself- just like a high schooler does.

Don't grow up too fast Sweet Girl.

Supplies Supplies And More Supplies

I love love love getting school supplies ready! These are Madeline's that I had to gather together and get her name put on so it will all be ready. When I was young I loved picking out my Trapper Keeper (does that tell you how old I am!) and deciding what folder color was going with what subject. (Science and History were always yellow and Math was always red which was my least favorite color/subject). To quote a movie, "there's something about the smell of new pencils in the Fall". =)

Climbing trees with the neighbors..... well not much of a tree......

Finally Facing Forward

We hit 20lbs months ago, but are just now able to turn the carseat around now that he's 1yr old! He LOVES it and is always looking out the window at everything. He didn't know what all he was missing! ha ha

Tinkerbell mug from Disney World- $8. Brother's hairbrush- $2. Photo of a little miss too pooped to pop- priceless.

Here's what I found when I came back into the living room from putting Matthew to bed. Madeline was passed out from playing so hard! She went swimming at Summer Fun then came home and went immediately from the car to the neighbor's to play with their kids. Then she decided to take those kids down 3 houses the other way to introduce them to the kids there so she could play with them altogether (up until this point she would try to choose on the way home who she wanted to play with!). She has the best of both worlds because one neighbor has a trampoline and the other has a swingset/playhouse combo. She's a wheeler dealer for sure!

Rotary Dial

I spent quite a while trying to explain to Madeline about rotary dialing. We got out some baby toys of hers that we boxed and saved for Matthew and this little classic was in there. I told her that its ringing sound is what phones sounded like when I was little and she asked where the buttons were. I showed her how we had to choose each number and spin it around to make calls and she thought that was crazy!! Am I really this old???? =)

PF Chang's!!!

Yum! We had another house showing tonight so we had to be gone and decided to eat at PF Chang's. Matthew loved it! He ate just as much as Madeline! We don't know where he puts it all!! He ate a large helping of rice (big hit) and 4 pieces of Crispy Honey Chicken.

Check out those new Crocs! Too darn cute!

The ball popper from Lollie is tons of fun!

Miss Astorbilt

When I was little my Mother and Grandmother called me Miss Astorbilt (mix of the Astors and Vanderbilts). Here is Miss Astorbilt Jr. decked in her 'mix match' finery as we await an oil change at Wal-Mart. We never know what she's going to dress in next.

Ordinary Day

Matthew Carter's Ice Cream Parlor Birthday Party

This one is my favorite. This high chair was the same one my Mom used with me and Aunt Nancy. =)
He wasn't crazy about the crown, but I just needed to get a few pictures...

He was not interested in the cake AT ALL, didn't even TRY to smash into it or get messy. Sigh.

Frosting Face

I love his Mr. ONEderful shirt! This was my idea and I went to WalMart to get a plain color shirt then took it to a monogram shop to have the wording done. Too cute!

Time for presents!

The present opening was a little bit chaotic so I didn't get pictures of him opening every one but I know he will love playing with them all. Thank you to everyone!!

More of those toy 'heads' he loves.

Aunt Melanie, we saved this present until his birthday so he could open it with his other gifts. We loved it!

The Grover puppet from Aunt Nancy was a big hit, especially after the party. He likes for it to pretend it's going to 'get him'!

Cheerio book will be a lot of fun!

Ball Popper from Lollie, can't wait to open this!

Sock Monkey!

Parlor Party Fun

Aunt Nancy and her 'Napolean' ice cream cone!

Matthew loves his Ma-Maw!

Love the shirt and crown!

Everyone making their own ice cream creations. Madeline said she got all the toppings on hers except the ice cream flavored jelly beans.

Thought since he was not remotely interested in his cake or ice cream that he would like a plain cone to chew on. Nope. He was heading me off at every turn for picture ideas.

Loving on Aunt Sue.

Sissy and her birthday treats.

Aunt Leslie made a yummy plate.

Madeline and Sidney took their outside so they could play bubbles and eat at the same time.

Mattew's Ice Cream Parlor hats

The soda jerk gang - wait, how did Aunt Nancy escape this?

Big Sister, in all her finery along with the hat....
