'A' for effort

So, here is the latest worksheet to come home from school. On this one Madeline was to write an opposite word for the one given. Stop, she wrote Go. Little, she wrote Big. Running, she wrote Walking. And the one marked incorrect: for Sitting she wrote Not Sitting. Gotta love the logic of a 1st grader! Jeff and I think this should have least been correct for the sake of effort and originality! ha ha This worksheet is a keeper!

Sweet Little Bookworm

Asparagus

I couldn't resist a picture of Madeline dressed in a renaissance costume with a spear of asparagus in each hand. I lost count of how much asparagus she ate after the 7th spear! When I was 6 I would not have gone near the stuff!

Holding His Own

Matthew is learning to hold his own with Madeline. This morning they were both eating a bowl of dry chocolate Cheerios at the coffee table while watching Chuggington. Madeline was not paying attention and I watched Matthew start taking HANDFULS of Cheerios from her bowl and put them into his! He was watching her to make sure she didn't see and he was transferring the Cheerios just as fast as his little hands could go! Too funny! Madeline never saw a thing!

The Caped Crusader

After his baths Matthew likes to run up and down the hall with his hooded towel on. He must like to air out! =)

Poor Cinderella

Madeline has been on red every day this week at school for talking.. She got assigned chores for punishment and Mommy got her tub scrubbed out as a result!

Chuggington

This is Chuggington, a new show on the Disney Channel. This is Disney's version of Thomas The Train and Matthew has been won over! He looooooooooooooves Chuggington. When the song plays as the show comes on he is jumping and pointing and shouting 'Choo Choo!!'. I hope by the time we make it back down to Disney World they will have some Chuggington stuff for us to get him. He doesn't seem to have a favorite one, there are so many on the show that I can't keep them straight except for the main three in the picture above. Welcome to the new world of toys and shows for little boys! ha ha

Happy Valentine's Day!

Madeline couldn't wait to open up her Valentine gifts on Sunday morning! She got a little box of chocolates and a marshmallow Hello Kitty sucker.

This was my gift from the kids. Madeline did a good job on my card and envelope.

Matthew got a Mickey Mouse marshmallow sucker and he thought it was quite yummy.

This is the box chocolates that Jeff got for me. Madeline was thrilled that this much chocolate was on hand! (and yes, that is chocolate in her mouth!)

Now that's a box of chocolate!

After church we went to visit Dee.

Madeline made a valentine for Dee and she worked so hard on it I had to take some pictures:

Dee gave Madeline a little desk calendar for 2010 and she spent the entire time writing everyone's birthdays in it. She loved that!

Mommy Guilt #4,567

I lost my temper with Madeline tonight over her back-talking to me. Later she was writing very seriously in her notepad and I read it when she wasn't looking. It said "Dear Santa, this year I want to set things right. Love Me.' When I asked her about what that meant she said she wrote it because she had not been very kind today and was going to do better. Now I can't decide if I should feel guilty over yelling at her or justified because she is pulling a fast one over on me.......

Uno!

Madeline got a deck of Uno cards in her stocking this year and she has become quite the little Uno player. She wins a lot of games! Jeff said this time he and she were playing at the table and Matthew pulled a chair up for him and climbed up to watch.

Time Out Corner

Just like Sissy, Matthew is now getting his fair share of the time out corner. He has to go for 1 min for hitting, and he hits a lot right now trying to test the reaction. He's starting to learn though because now he will start to hit and catch himself, smile and say 'Hi!!!'.

Snow Day!

School was closed today for snow! Madeline was so excited to finally get some snow, it helped the fact that her Valentine's Day class party had to be postponed...

Matthew was not too sure about this white, cold stuff on the ground. It took him a while to get into the fun on it.

Madeline ate so much snow I'm afraid she's going to have to go the bathroom in the middle of the night! She kept eating it and eating it!

and what's the best way to wrap up a day playing out in the cold snow? A mug full of hot chocolate and a cozy blanket!
