30 Day Disney Photo Challenge: Day 19

Pic of something that needs more attention. The Stitch show in Tomorrowland. This is a waste of some prime space in Tomorrowland. It's a show with irritating strobe lighting, loud special effects and horrible smells..... it scares small children as well with it being so dark inside and is not a fave among many. I would totally do something else with this area but my last name is not Disney so no one asked me! =)
Another idea I have is to have a Mary Poppins ride in Magic Kingdom. The move is set in 1910 which would fit in with the theme of Main Street...... I'm just sayin'.

30 Day Disney Photo Challenge: Day 18

Day 18, fave DW guilty pleasure. Not sure if this counts, buts I ALWAYS get a mouse ears rice krispy treat dipped in chocolate on the last day and take it home with me. I wait a few days after I get home to eat it so as to have a little bit of DW last for a few more days. I get these at the Confectionery on Main Street. Soooo good!

30 Day Disney Photo Challenge: Day 17

Favorite character in general. Well, Daisy is my fave too but I already used her for 'fave in park character' so this time I'll go with Jiminy Cricket. Although I do like Snow White a lot too.... and Malficient... it's too hard to narrow these down! =)

Home Depot Houses

These little sheds outside of Home Depot are high fun for the Bryan kids. They always want to play in these. Jeff took the opportunity to do some research on these for the playhouse he's building.

30 Day Disney Photo Challenge: Day 15 & 16

I'm killing 2 birds with 1 stone here. Day 15 is to list what you do when it rains..... SHOP!!!
And that goes hand in hand with Day 16 which is to list your favorite place to shop.....


I currently have 2, both at Magic Kingdom but only found a picture of 1. This is the Emporium on Main Street- love it. The second is the Briar Patch beside Splash Mountain. It looks like you are inside Brer Rabbit's burrow and it so darn cute that it makes you want to buy stuff! ha ha
Now, in December we are going to Downtown Disney for the first time and guess what is there? World Of Disney shop..... the largest shop of Disney merchandise anywhere, it is HUGE. That may become a new fave......

30 Day Disney Photo Challenge: Day 14

Favorite night time activity. Hands down my fave was the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party last October. Trick-or-Treating in Magic Kingdom, the Halloween fireworks and parade were amazing. The picture above is us in front of Cinderella's carriage at the party.

One thing we discovered last time was that riding the Jungle Cruise at night is a totally different feel from riding it during the day. This is a fave night time attraction for us now!

End Of Year Party

30 Day Disney Photo Challenge: Day 13

Favorite home resort. I choose the Polynesian. Now I have never been to the Polynesian BUT, it is my favorite and the goal is to get there one day. So far we have stayed in a different resort each time as I want to try them all. Check out that fantabulous volcano pool from the Polynesian!!

30 Day Disney Photo Challenge: Day 12

Favorite Disney World food. I love love love planning the dining for our trips. I honestly can't think of something that I would say is my favorite single item to eat, that may change this upcoming time because we are going to be eating at Le Cellier in the Canada pavillion of Epcot. I have heard rave reviews of this steakhouse and their beer cheese soup.
But, since I can't list a fave food, I can list a fave beverage. Last time we ate breakfast at Tusker House in Animal Kingdom and their jamba juice was a treat to the tongue! Wow was it good. I drank so many glasses that the waitress just brought me my own pitcher for the table! It was a mix of orange juice, guava juice and some others that I can't remember. Sooooo good!

Madeline: "What do you need a kidney for? You already have 2!"
Matthew: "Not 'kidney' Sissy, 'kid-ney'."
Madeline: "Kidney?"
Matthew: "No, KIDNEY!"

30 Day Disney Photo Challenge: Day 11

Today's challenge is a photo of something you wish you could change at DW. This is a picture of the old Skyway terminal just down from It's A Small World. It is themed in a Swiss Alps type design and they have made the lower portion a stroller parking area now that the Skyway has been taken down. Jeff had a great idea of making the terminal into a small 4 room Swiss themed B&B or fondue type restaurant. People would pay top dollar to be able to have their resort room be inside the MK I'm sure!
I read a few weeks ago that there are construction walls up around this area now and they were removing it to make more room for the current Fantasyland expansion. I'm glad I got a picture of it when I did as the Skyway was one of the very few things I remember from my first DW trip in '81.

Looky Looky Looky

My first ever peach cobbler made with the Peach Park peaches. And I have eaten 1/2 of the whole thing myself, no one else really cares for peaches but me.

There are signs of our very first cucumbers on the vine! Look closely!

30 Day Disney Photo Challenge: Day 10

Day 10 is favorite ride. Easy-peasy, mine is Peter Pan. Love love this one, as do so many others because the ride wait times easily get up to 75 min on this. Definitely either a Fast Pass or one you head to first very early to avoid long lines. Matthew still says "I want to ride Peter Pan boats!".

The Sweetness

This weekend I FINALLY came upon Matthew's 1yr portraits that I had misplaced in the move. I went right out to Hobby Lobby to get a frame. Couldn't you just eat him up?? His little baby hair is so red in this picture. He's a doll!

Drama Mama

We had a busy Saturday. We got up early and took the kids to Aldridge Gardens for pictures (I need some large ones to hang over the couch), then we went out for lunch, came home and Jeff & Matthew napped so Madeline and I went to run errands. She had clipped a rose from the backyard and wore it behind her ear all day. She says it's all in the accessories. ha ha

Jeff grilled out hotdogs and corn on the cobb for dinner then we got in the car and headed down to Peach Park in Clanton. I think I might tackle learning to make a peach pie...

30 Day Disney Photo Challenge: Day 9

Day 9 is photo of our fave restaurant. Ours is Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary resort. It is one of our Disney traditions to eat dinner here on our very first night at DW. It's buffet and everyone loves it! Tons of great food and dessert and the characters come around to every table for pictures. And on days when you arrive too late to enjoy the parks until the next morning, a character dinner here is a great way to get into the Disney fun in preparation for the first day. Can't wait for our dinner there again!

Bookstore

We went to the bookstore yesterday and HAD to get Madeline's picture beside the cut out of Junie B. Jones! She loves these books!!!

And 2 guesses what Mr. Man ran right to??? Yep, he found stuffed characters from his beloved book Where The Wild Things Are and wanted his picture made with them!

Here he's saying his favorited parts from the book:

"And they ROARED their terrible roar, and GNASHED their terrible teeth, and ROLLED their terrible eyes, and shooooowed their terrible claws! And Max said BE STILL!!"

He also says "oh no please don't go! We'll eat you up, we love you so!"

So funny how he has taken to this book!

30 Day Disney Photo Challenge: Day 8

Photo of the ride you miss the most. Mine is Mr. Toad's Wild Ride and it was where the Winnie The Pooh ride is now. This is one of the few rides that I remember from that 1 lone trip we took to DW when I was 6 and I wish it would come back!
An interesting note, as you go through the Pooh ride look back over your shoulder on the wall behind the door and you'll see Mr. Toad handing the deed over to Owl. Such a nice Disney touch, they are pros at details.

Family Visit

On Wed night Madeline and I went out to Dee's for a visit with out of town family. This is Dee, Aunt Judy, Uncle Joey and Aunt Arland. Dee and Aunt Arland are sisters and we loved that they both wore purple without planning it! ha ha
A good time was had by all!

Isn't She Lovely?

I saw this car parked at Jim 'N Nick's this week. Owning a 1957 Chevy is on my bucket list of things to accomplish and I don't even care what color. One day.... Isn't it a beauty!!!
On a side note, Madeline calls Jim 'N Nick's 'The Flying Pig' because of their logo! ha ha When I bring her home the wonderful cheese biscuits from there she says 'you ate at The Flying Pig!!!'.

30 Day Disney Photo Challenge: Day 7

Picture of your favorite in-park character. That's easy, Daisy! And she's not as easy to find as you may think!

Madeline was reading through some newspaper advertisments on the way home today. Out of the blue she says: "I found something we need. It's a Texas Hold 'Em Floating Poker Set for a pool. Only $29.99 everyday. While supplies last. At participating retailers." What??!!
And no, we don't have a pool.

30 Day Disney Photo Challenge: Day 6

Today's challenge is to post a photo of something that you have never ridden or seen at Disney World. While I have seen Splash Mountain many times and love the theme it has of Brier Rabbit, I have never ridden it. I'm not much for water rides unless I am in a swimsuit....... wet shorts or jeans that I have stay in all day is not an appealing thing to me so I avoid water rides while dressed in normal clothes.
I do have to say that on our last trip we discovered the Briar Patch gift shop beside Splash Mountain and it was wonderful!

Recent Funnies At Our House

I walked by the bathroom last night and saw matthew doing this. He's lapping the water with his tongue!

This came home in Madeline's folder. It's her acrostic poem using words to describe herself. I love that she used dazzling! ha ha

And the final funny...... this weekend after the carpets were all cleaned and furniture put back in place, Madeline and I tackled the mound of crapola under her bed. We pulled it all out and she was allowed to choose 6 (I originally told her 5 and bartered for 6) things to keep under there but the rest had to go to either the playroom or the trash/donate.

And what did we find amongst the piles? This petrified banana. And yes, that's a moldy oreo stuck to the underside of it. Gak!
