The Vet

This morning on the way to school Madeline was asking what each business was/sold that we passed. Example, the nursery sells trees, gas station sells gas, dry cleaners cleans clothes, etc. We passed a vets office and she asked what people go there for. I told her a vets is where people take anmimals when they are sick. Veterinarians are doctors for animals. She said 'Oh, vegetarians'. I said no vegetarians are people who don't eat meat, veterinarians are doctors for animals. She says 'so do vegetarians go to veterinarians so they can make them able to eat meat again?' ha ha ha

Backyard Play

Madeline is participating in Field Day at school next week. She has chosen to compete in the standing long jump, which she won first place in last year, the sack race and the frisbee toss. This is her practicing her frisbee throw in the backyard.




Matthew alternated between playing frisbee with us and playing in the mud/dirt!

Big Boy Bite

Matthew decided I was not pinching off his bites of fruit bar fast enough for his liking so he took the whole thing to help himself! He takes bites off of it just like a big boy. I wasn't ready for this!

6 Going On 14

Things are starting to speed up a little too much around here. Madeline is quickly showing signs of those dreaded preteen years looming, and she's only 6! Well, almost 7. This morning in the car she was quieter than normal so I asked if she was ok... "yes". Asked if she was mad at something...."no". Asked if she was upset... "no". Started to ask another question as to what was with all the short answers and was interrupted with "MOMMA! I am TRYING to read back here!!!" She is starting to be exasperated with her Mother. Then after I picked her up she wanted to listen to Taylor Swift on the cd. She said that she likes to pretend she is Taylor Swift on the playground and she likes to pretend to be her in the mirror too. ha ha Maybe she's not too grown yet. =)

E-I-E-I-OOPS!

Tonight was Madeline's school program called E-I-E-I-OOPS. In music class the kids were allowed to choose which barnyard animal they wanted to be and Madeline chose a sheep.

I was proud of how her costume turned out considering that I cannot sew!

Red Red

Madeline had a good day at school yesterday (green light) so when she asked to have her toenails painted I was happy to oblige. She wanted 'red red', not light red (pink). =)

Fan-blooming-tastic!

They're blooming! Dee's iris bulbs that I transplanted into the new yard started blooming! I am so relieved they 'took'! These are so so old, some of the bulbs are as big as my fist. I'm so happy they survived, aren't they just gorgeous!!

The rose bushes came with the house, they are so pretty!

The azaleas out front bloomed in the last 2 days too, we have 3 or 4 pink bushes...

These are Mother's tiger lillies. They survived the transplant as well and we all know how beautiful these are!

.... and there's 1 white azalea bush that's just getting blooms.

Chocolate Smiles

Matthew has discovered chocolate. He loves it. Maybe he's finally coming around to liking sweets. That's left over Easter chocolate on his mouth in the picture above. He was eating his under his chair so Sissy wouldn't get it! ha ha

We all already know that Miss Madeline is a chocoholic! ha ha

The Haul

The Disney Store in B'ham is closing...... we are all sad about this. I always went there to buy a surprise for the kids to have in the hotel room when we arrived at DW, and it cut down on souvenir shopping at the parks. Yesterday was an additional 40% off lowest price so I stocked up for when the kids are a little older. Jeff will stroke when he sees this picture but don't worry Honey, it wasn't as bad as it looks! I'm only coming clean since it's too large to sneak in the house. =)

Bookworm

Matthew loves to look at books. We keep some in his room for him and he likes to dump them out to see which he wants to 'read'.

This one is one of his very favorite. Big Dog and Little Dog. I saw on the back that there are more in this series so I need to go get some more.

This is his favorite page, where Big Dog likes to eat the mud. Matthew says 'OH NO!' when we read this one.

He also has a Thomas book but we pretend it's Chuggington, the trains look a lot alike. He likes this page where the bee stings the train's nose. He says 'OH NO CHOO CHOO! NOSE! NO BUG!' Too cute.

Disney Princesses

This is Madeline's new Disney princess gown for our Oct trip. Yes, we wear Disney pjs while we are there too..

And so it begins....

Madeline has bought posters at her school book fair for the last two years. These are hanging in her room....... soon enough they will be replaced with whatever teen heartthrob is in fashion or boy bands.

She likes to mix my old trophies with her own and hang necklaces from them... this looks very preteen to me.

Dinner at The Depot

We have a little place in Old Town Helena that we like to eat at called The Depot. Actually a lot of us from work eat there regularly on lunch break as well, it's a popular local spot. It's a little restaurant inside an old train depot and it's right beside a real train track. In these pictures the train came through while we were waiting on our food and Matthew loved it! He said 'CHOOO CHOOOOO'.

This is the back side and outdoor deck where a lot of people eat.

There's a water fall out back and people go down on the little island for fishing and frisbee, etc. At night the water is lit with to make the falls glow.

There's a little caboose out front for kids to play on. Here's some info on the depot itself before it was made into a diner:

From 1872 to 1905 it was a hub activity for Helena for every person and goods coming or going into the town. It is one of the oldest structures in town that survived the 1895 fire and the 1933 tornado. It moved to its present location from a little north of the tracks in 1999. Pretty neat.

Convertibles

The other day when we were driving home from school Madeline pointed at a car and said "Mommy what are those cars without ceilings called?" I told her they were convertibles. She said she wanted one of those when she grew up and wondered if Uncle Tommy would paint her name down the side........ ha ha!

Sleeping in the big bed

Matthew woke up way too early this morning so Jeff brought him in bed with us until it was really time to get up! He loves our bed which may not be such a good thing....

Elmo!

Elmo!!

Matthew was so excited about his new Elmo shirt! He told everyone who was on his shirt and where Elmo's nose was. I tried to steer him to Grover (I don't like Elmo) but to no avail, he loves Elmo!

Cinderella Man

Matthew loves to wear Sissy's Cinderella shoes and clomp around in them. I couldn't resist a picture.... he'll hate this when he's 12!
