The Great Tooth Fairy Mishap

Madeline has lost another tooth! It came out at the Y yesterday and she could not wait to get it ready for the Tooth Fairy.
I asked her if she had managed to keep her tongue out of the hole this time and she said no. She said she has decided that she doesn't want a gold tooth anymore, she wants all of her teeth to be white so that means she can put her tongue in the hole whenever she wants!

It was a bad omen when Jeff accidentally threw the tooth (in a ziplock bag) away in the trash. He and Madeline had to dig all through the kitchen trash bag to find it- but they did!

So here's what happened. When the Tooth Fairy arrived she thought it would be great fun to leave Madeline's $$ and a special note up in her lamp instead of back underneath the pillow. Looking back, this was not such a good idea. At 12:45a.m Madeline came into our room and woke me up to tell me that she could not find her Tooth Fairy doll where she put it under the pillow (the tooth goes into the little purse the doll holds) and the Tooth Fairy had not come. I told her to back to bed and wait until morning. The next morning Jeff woke her up and she immediately started to pull pillows off the bed in search of evidence that the Tooth Fairy had been there, but there was nothing to find under the pillows. Jeff came to ask me if the Tooth Fairy had not come, he was afraid there was about to be a panic. I told him to have her look in the lamp. Disaster narrowly avoided. Next time the Tooth Fairy will go along with the norm and leave her evidence under the pillows! Sigh.
