Bookstore

We went to the bookstore yesterday and HAD to get Madeline's picture beside the cut out of Junie B. Jones! She loves these books!!!

And 2 guesses what Mr. Man ran right to??? Yep, he found stuffed characters from his beloved book Where The Wild Things Are and wanted his picture made with them!

Here he's saying his favorited parts from the book:

"And they ROARED their terrible roar, and GNASHED their terrible teeth, and ROLLED their terrible eyes, and shooooowed their terrible claws! And Max said BE STILL!!"

He also says "oh no please don't go! We'll eat you up, we love you so!"

So funny how he has taken to this book!

30 Day Disney Photo Challenge: Day 8

Photo of the ride you miss the most. Mine is Mr. Toad's Wild Ride and it was where the Winnie The Pooh ride is now. This is one of the few rides that I remember from that 1 lone trip we took to DW when I was 6 and I wish it would come back!
An interesting note, as you go through the Pooh ride look back over your shoulder on the wall behind the door and you'll see Mr. Toad handing the deed over to Owl. Such a nice Disney touch, they are pros at details.

Family Visit

On Wed night Madeline and I went out to Dee's for a visit with out of town family. This is Dee, Aunt Judy, Uncle Joey and Aunt Arland. Dee and Aunt Arland are sisters and we loved that they both wore purple without planning it! ha ha
A good time was had by all!

Isn't She Lovely?

I saw this car parked at Jim 'N Nick's this week. Owning a 1957 Chevy is on my bucket list of things to accomplish and I don't even care what color. One day.... Isn't it a beauty!!!
On a side note, Madeline calls Jim 'N Nick's 'The Flying Pig' because of their logo! ha ha When I bring her home the wonderful cheese biscuits from there she says 'you ate at The Flying Pig!!!'.

30 Day Disney Photo Challenge: Day 7

Picture of your favorite in-park character. That's easy, Daisy! And she's not as easy to find as you may think!

???

Madeline was reading through some newspaper advertisments on the way home today. Out of the blue she says: "I found something we need. It's a Texas Hold 'Em Floating Poker Set for a pool. Only $29.99 everyday. While supplies last. At participating retailers." What??!!
And no, we don't have a pool.

30 Day Disney Photo Challenge: Day 6

Today's challenge is to post a photo of something that you have never ridden or seen at Disney World. While I have seen Splash Mountain many times and love the theme it has of Brier Rabbit, I have never ridden it. I'm not much for water rides unless I am in a swimsuit....... wet shorts or jeans that I have stay in all day is not an appealing thing to me so I avoid water rides while dressed in normal clothes.
I do have to say that on our last trip we discovered the Briar Patch gift shop beside Splash Mountain and it was wonderful!

Recent Funnies At Our House

I walked by the bathroom last night and saw matthew doing this. He's lapping the water with his tongue!

This came home in Madeline's folder. It's her acrostic poem using words to describe herself. I love that she used dazzling! ha ha

And the final funny...... this weekend after the carpets were all cleaned and furniture put back in place, Madeline and I tackled the mound of crapola under her bed. We pulled it all out and she was allowed to choose 6 (I originally told her 5 and bartered for 6) things to keep under there but the rest had to go to either the playroom or the trash/donate.

And what did we find amongst the piles? This petrified banana. And yes, that's a moldy oreo stuck to the underside of it. Gak!

(Aunt Nancy is flipping out right now I know!)

30 Day Disney Photo Challenge: Day 5

Today's challenge was to post a picture of your least favorite ride/attraction at Disney World. Hands down mine is the Enchanted Tiki Room in Adventure Land. This one is mind numbing and what makes it even worse is the main character is voiced by Gilbert Godfrey whose voice is like nails on a chalkboard to me.
This attraction is currently closed for renovations after a fire, it can only get better.

30 Day Disney Photo Challenge: Day 4

Day 4 is to post a picture of when you really know you have arrived at DW. For some people it's when they check in at their resort, others it's when they walk under the train trestle at the Magic Kingdom or turn the corner on Main Street and first see Cinderella Castle. For me it's when we drive through that welcome arch! From this point on we are in for fun times ahead!!

Honeydew

The kids enjoyed a plate of honeydew after the all day carpet cleaning event of 2011. I lost the vote on furniture arrangement and everything is put back differently with wide open expanse of floor in the living room now.
Not sure what the appeal is for honeydew, it is my least favorite fruit in all of fruitdom, but to each his own.

Jeff's New Ever Best Cleaning Friend

This is Jeff's new best friend. He met him at Publix yesterday and brought him home! ha ha Last night and for most of today Jeff has steam cleaned our carpets..... the entire house. It has made a huge difference but the cleaning, vaccuming and furniture movement for the venture were not fun. Ask us about the bowl of petrified macaroni noodles that were found inside the couch.
Now Madeline and I are tackling the world of crapola that has accumulated underneath her bed. I wonder how many trash bags I can fill.....

The way she wants it...

When Madeline orders a hotdog with ketchup, she wants it this way. And yes she eats it all separately. Bizarre.

Music Program and Art Show

Tuesday night was the PTO music program: Go Fish and also the art show. That's Madeline on the first row, far right. She tried her hardest to get the back row when they came on stage but no such luck.

After the music program they had taken pictures of the students choice from class and hung throughout the hallways.

Madeline chose a vase with different shapes as flowers for hers. Didn't she do a great job!

Madeline and Abby

That's Madeline's on the upper left, first one.

30 Day Disney Photo Challenge: Day 3

Day 3 is to list your favorite Disney World memory. I don't have a picture from when this happened but the above is a good one of Madeline riding the Tomorrowland Transit Authority, or the WEDway People Mover. The first time she rode it was on our first trip in 2007 and she was so excited she screamed "IT'S JUST LIKE A DREAM!!!!"

Then this one was from the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party last year. Matthew was so excited to see Buzz Lightyear all he could do was jump up and down, so Buzz started jumping up and down and they jumped together! So fun!

30 Day Disney Photo Challenge: Day 2

For Day 2 we are to post a picture of the character you are most like. So, I took an online quiz to find out which I would be and the result was Bambi. What??? Anyway, here's what it said:
Playful and agile you earn respect wherever you may go in life. You are a matured individual, but you also know how to have a good and senseless time when you are around your closest friends."

Hmmm. If I were choosing without a quiz I would have picked one of these two below:

Tink is known for being extremely stubborn...... check.

And Scrooge McDuck, well....... check.

30 Day Disney Photo Challenge: Day 1

I'm taking the 30 Day Disney Photo Challenge, let's see if I can truly do it. For the first day we are to post a picture of ourselves at DW and list the 10 reasons you are a DW lover. Here are my 10 in no certain order:

1. The planning, the planning, the planning
2. Making memories and traditions
3. Finding rare characters for photo ops
4. The restaurants/food
4. The music
5. Cinderella Castle
6. Checking must dos off my list
7. Peter Pan, Pirates of the Caribbean and Carousel of Progress rides
8. Being able to sequester my family for a week away from daily interruption, ie quality family time
9. Watching my children get uber excited
10. Feeling like a child again

Stay tuned each day!

Synesthesia

So I think Matthew might have inherited synesthesia from me. I've always had this and from what I've read it's passed down from mothers to children. I see all of my numbers and letters in color whereas most people see them in black/white or not at all. Growing up I always thought everyone saw them in color and was shocked to find out otherwise.

I also see my numbers/dates/days of week/months of year spatially such as in a clockwise circle.

Days of the week and months of the year are also in color to me. The dominant letter colors affect the overall color of the word as a whole. So, when friends at work were planning dates for scheduling their inductions we would talk about what number (date) went best with the current month so the babies would have a pretty color birthdate! ha ha

Anyway, tonight Matthew and I were discussing colors we liked and he started singing the ABC song. He said you like green? I said yes, green was my favorite and he said 'then you like T, T is green'. I said yes! T is green!!! ha ha

There are many different forms, I only have 2, the grapheme color and number form. It came in very handy for remembering dates in History classes! Example, to remember 1492 for Columbus sailing I knew that the 4 and 2 were blue/green which reminded me of water, hence the sailing. Works wonders for multiple choice questions! haha

Disney World circa 1981

I always figured these pics were taken from my one and only trip to The World when I was 6. I emailed them to a friend who is a Disney guru and she confirmed that she thinks this one above is in the queue line for Big Thunder Mountain RailRoad and she thinks the one below is from the line to the train station in Frontierland...

I plan to try and find these spots when we got back to DW this year!

Silly Billies in the car.

Happiness in a bottle

At Bath & Body Works I found this hand sanitizer with the British flag and a tiara and it came out in time for the Royal Wedding. I had to have it! I almost don't want to use it up, there were only 5 bottles left when I got mine!

While I was there I got some of the new lotions for the summer! Love these!

Smooth Move Ex-Lax

Note to self: 1 piece of Ex-Lax + 2.5 yr old = colossal mess.

Where The Wild Things Are

Matthew got this book from Aunt Melanie and Uncle Bobby for Christmas one year and he discovered it again this week. He wants to have it read over and over and over, he LOVES it!

Here he's showing his favorite monster from the book.

We went to the bookstore after Mother's Day lunch today and he found the book, took it to a chair and sat to look at it. He loves this book!

Happy Mother's Day!

My cards from Madeline:

And from Matthew:

Madeline worked all week on a box of my favorite things to give m on Mother's Day and I got breakfast in bed too! Then we all went to PF Chang's for lunch and it was sooooo good!

Flowers that Madeline and Matthew picked out for Dee for Mother's Day:

Good picture with Dee!

The leis were some dress up that Matthew put on her, she wasn't wearing them when we arrived! ha ha

Dressing up Dee!
